Functional Medicine seeks to treat the source of the imbalance that leads to the manifestation of the disease in the body. Its focus is on what we can co-create as a patient and practitioner team to move away from the trajectory of failing health, and shift the focus towards cultivating optimal wellness.

Our Approach
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to health. Each person has an individual history, genetic makeup, belief system, and set of experiences that make up their bioindividuality. Thus, each person requires a personalized combination of tools and interventions. At The Wei, we approach each patient as his or her own unique set of data when evaluating and determining the right factors to address in achieving that patient's desired outcome. The solution to any health problem can be found in identifying how the mind, body and soul work together.
Why Acupunture & Functional Medicine?
Acupuncture and functional medicine are both based on a curative framework that views the body as an interrelated system. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the organ systems refer to the energetic spheres of function of the respective systems which interpenetrate and dynamically connect. Functional Medicine also views the body as having basic biological systems that constantly interact to create health or disease.
In both, there is an emphasis on balance - if one system is imbalanced, there will be complications in the others. The two medical models complement each other by understanding and managing the balance needed to promote health, and treating at the root cause level of an imbalance. Both systems not only resolve health issues, but also optimize health. When combined, they offer a powerful model for sustainable and optimized health.
